How to delete folders in gmail
Unfortunately, you can't delete folders in Gmail directly. Gmail doesn't have a built-in feature to delete folders. However, you can archive or rename folders to effectively "delete" them. Here's how:
Method 1: Archive a folder
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the folder you want to "delete" in the left-hand sidebar.
- Click on the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the folder.
- Select "Archive" from the dropdown menu.
- The folder will be moved to the "All Mail" label, effectively "deleting" it from the sidebar.
Method 2: Rename a folder
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the folder you want to "delete" in the left-hand sidebar.
- Click on the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the folder.
- Select "Rename" from the dropdown menu.
- Enter a new name for the folder, and click "Rename".
- The folder will be renamed, and you can move it to a different location or delete it by moving it to the "Trash" label.
Method 3: Move a folder to the "Trash" label
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the folder you want to "delete" in the left-hand sidebar.
- Click on the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the folder.
- Select "Move to" from the dropdown menu.
- Select the "Trash" label from the list of options.
- The folder will be moved to the "Trash" label, where it will be deleted permanently after 30 days.
Note that you can't delete a folder that contains unread messages. You'll need to mark all messages in the folder as read before you can archive or rename it.
