How to delete mails from years

Deleting old emails can help declutter your inbox and free up storage space. Here are the steps to delete emails from specific years:

Method 1: Using the Gmail search operator

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the search bar at the top of the page.
  3. Type the following search query: from:(year) -in:trash
    • Replace (year) with the year you want to delete emails from (e.g., 2018).
    • The -in:trash part ensures that only emails that are not in the trash are deleted.
  4. Press Enter to execute the search.
  5. Select all the emails in the search results by checking the box at the top left corner of the page.
  6. Click on the "Bulk actions" dropdown menu and select "Delete forever".

Method 2: Using the Gmail filters

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the gear icon () and select "See all settings".
  3. Go to the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab.
  4. Click on "Create a new filter".
  5. In the "From" field, enter the year you want to delete emails from (e.g., 2018).
  6. Click on "Create filter".
  7. Select "Delete it" as the action.
  8. Click on "Create".

Method 3: Using the Outlook web app

  1. Log in to your Outlook account.
  2. Click on the "Folders" tab.
  3. Right-click on the "Inbox" folder and select "Search folders".
  4. In the search bar, enter the following search query: received:(year)
    • Replace (year) with the year you want to delete emails from (e.g., 2018).
  5. Press Enter to execute the search.
  6. Select all the emails in the search results by checking the box at the top left corner of the page.
  7. Click on the "Delete" button.

Method 4: Using the Outlook desktop app

  1. Open the Outlook desktop app.
  2. Go to the "Inbox" folder.
  3. Press Ctrl + Shift + F to open the "Find" dialog box.
  4. In the "Find" dialog box, enter the following search query: received:(year)
    • Replace (year) with the year you want to delete emails from (e.g., 2018).
  5. Press Enter to execute the search.
  6. Select all the emails in the search results by checking the box at the top left corner of the page.
  7. Right-click on the selected emails and select "Delete".

Remember to exercise caution when deleting large numbers of emails, as this action is permanent and cannot be undone.
