How to delete sent mail from sender

The eternal quest to delete sent emails!

Unfortunately, it's not possible to delete sent emails from the sender's perspective, as they have already been delivered to the recipient's inbox. However, there are a few workarounds to achieve a similar effect:

Method 1: Mark as Unsent (Gmail)

If you're using Gmail, you can mark a sent email as "Unsent" to remove it from your Sent folder. To do this:

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Go to the Sent folder.
  3. Find the email you want to delete.
  4. Click on the three vertical dots next to the email.
  5. Select "Mark as Unsent" from the dropdown menu.

Method 2: Delete from Sent folder (Other Email Providers)

For other email providers, you can simply delete the sent email from your Sent folder:

  1. Log in to your email account.
  2. Go to the Sent folder.
  3. Find the email you want to delete.
  4. Click on the "Delete" or "Trash" button next to the email.

Method 3: Use a Third-Party Email Client

Some email clients, like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, allow you to delete sent emails. Check your email client's settings or documentation to see if this feature is available.

Method 4: Use a Script or Add-on (Advanced Users)

For advanced users, you can use a script or add-on to automate the deletion of sent emails. For example, you can use a Gmail script to delete sent emails based on specific criteria.

Important Note

Keep in mind that deleting sent emails may not always be possible, especially if the recipient has already accessed the email or if the email has been archived or backed up. Additionally, deleting sent emails may not remove them from the recipient's inbox or email server, as they may have already been downloaded or cached.
