How to find mail is seen by sent person

A common concern!

There are a few ways to find out if someone has seen your email:

  1. Read Receipt: Some email providers, like Gmail, allow you to request a read receipt from the recipient. This will send a notification to your email when the recipient opens the email. To request a read receipt in Gmail:
    • Compose a new email or reply to an existing one.
    • Click the three vertical dots at the bottom of the compose window.
    • Select "Request read receipt."
    • The recipient will receive a notification asking if they want to grant you a read receipt.
  2. Delivery and Read Reports: Some email providers, like Microsoft Exchange, offer delivery and read reports. These reports show when the email was delivered and when it was read. To access these reports, you may need to contact your email administrator or IT department.
  3. Email Tracking: Some email clients, like Boomerang or Sanebox, offer email tracking features. These features can track when an email is opened, forwarded, or replied to. However, these features may not work if the recipient has disabled tracking or uses a different email client.
  4. Ask the Recipient: If you have a good relationship with the recipient, you can simply ask them if they've seen your email. This approach is often the most straightforward and respectful way to find out.

Keep in mind that some email providers may not allow you to track or request read receipts, and some recipients may not grant you access to this information. Additionally, some email clients may have settings to disable tracking or read receipts, so it's essential to respect the recipient's privacy and preferences.
