How to import messages windows live mail

Windows Live Mail is a discontinued email client, and Microsoft no longer supports it. However, you can still import your messages from Windows Live Mail to other email clients or services. Here are the steps to import messages from Windows Live Mail:

Method 1: Export to PST file and then import to another email client

  1. Open Windows Live Mail and go to File > Export.
  2. Select Export to a file and choose Personal Folders File (.pst).
  3. Choose the folders you want to export (e.g., Inbox, Sent Items, etc.).
  4. Select a location to save the PST file and click Export.
  5. Once the export is complete, you can import the PST file into another email client, such as Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, or Apple Mail.

Method 2: Export to EML files and then import to another email client

  1. Open Windows Live Mail and go to File > Export.
  2. Select Export to a file and choose Email messages (.eml).
  3. Choose the folders you want to export (e.g., Inbox, Sent Items, etc.).
  4. Select a location to save the EML files and click Export.
  5. Once the export is complete, you can import the EML files into another email client, such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail, or Gmail.

Method 3: Import to Gmail

  1. Open Windows Live Mail and go to File > Export.
  2. Select Export to a file and choose Email messages (.eml).
  3. Choose the folders you want to export (e.g., Inbox, Sent Items, etc.).
  4. Select a location to save the EML files and click Export.
  5. Go to Gmail and click on the gear icon in the upper right corner.
  6. Select Settings and then click on the Accounts and Import tab.
  7. Click on Import mail and contacts and select Email client (POP3, IMAP, or MAPI).
  8. Enter your Gmail account credentials and select the EML files you exported from Windows Live Mail.
  9. Click Import to import the messages into your Gmail account.

Method 4: Import to Microsoft Outlook

  1. Open Windows Live Mail and go to File > Export.
  2. Select Export to a file and choose Personal Folders File (.pst).
  3. Choose the folders you want to export (e.g., Inbox, Sent Items, etc.).
  4. Select a location to save the PST file and click Export.
  5. Open Microsoft Outlook and go to File > Open & Export.
  6. Select Import/Export and choose Import from another program or file.
  7. Select Personal Folders File (.pst) and click Next.
  8. Choose the PST file you exported from Windows Live Mail and click Finish.
