How to install dekko mail in ubuntu 1.10
A blast from the past!
Dekko is a discontinued email client for Ubuntu, but I'll provide instructions on how to install it on Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric Ocelot).
Note: Dekko is no longer maintained, and you may encounter issues or compatibility problems. If you're looking for a modern email client, consider alternatives like Mozilla Thunderbird, Evolution, or Claws Mail.
To install Dekko on Ubuntu 11.10:
- Add the Dekko PPA: Dekko is not available in the official Ubuntu repositories, so you'll need to add a third-party PPA (Personal Package Archive). Open a terminal and run the following command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dekko-team/ppa
- Update the package index: Update the package index to reflect the new PPA:
sudo apt-get update
- Install Dekko: Install Dekko using the following command:
sudo apt-get install dekko
- Launch Dekko: Once installed, you can launch Dekko from the Dash or by searching for "Dekko" in the application menu.
Additional steps:
- Dekko requires a valid email account to function. You'll need to set up your email account by clicking on "Settings" > "Accounts" and following the prompts.
- Dekko uses the Evolution data store, so you may need to configure your email account settings in Evolution as well.
Troubleshooting:
- If you encounter issues with Dekko, you can try removing and reinstalling it using the following commands:
sudo apt-get purge dekko sudo apt-get install dekko
- If you're still experiencing problems, you can try disabling the Dekko PPA and reinstalling Dekko from the Ubuntu Software Center.
Remember that Dekko is no longer maintained, and you may encounter compatibility issues or bugs. If you're looking for a more modern and reliable email client, consider alternatives like Mozilla Thunderbird or Evolution.
