How to know read or unread mail in gmail
In Gmail, there are a few ways to identify whether an email is read or unread:
- Envelope icon: Next to each email subject, you'll see an envelope icon. If the icon is open (like a triangle pointing upwards), the email is unread. If it's closed (like a triangle pointing downwards), the email is read.
- Blue dot: Unread emails have a blue dot next to the subject line. Read emails do not have this dot.
- Font style: Unread emails are displayed in a bold font, while read emails are displayed in a regular font.
- Flag icon: If you've flagged an email, it will have a flag icon () next to the subject line. Unread flagged emails will have a blue flag icon, while read flagged emails will have a gray flag icon.
- Conversation view: In the conversation view, unread emails are displayed with a blue dot next to the subject line, while read emails do not have this dot.
You can also use keyboard shortcuts to mark an email as read or unread:
- Mark as read: Press the 'r' key while the email is selected.
- Mark as unread: Press the 'u' key while the email is selected.
Additionally, you can use the "Mark as read" and "Mark as unread" buttons at the top of the email list to quickly mark multiple emails as read or unread.
