How to know read or unread mail in gmail

In Gmail, there are a few ways to identify whether an email is read or unread:

  1. Envelope icon: Next to each email subject, you'll see an envelope icon. If the icon is open (like a triangle pointing upwards), the email is unread. If it's closed (like a triangle pointing downwards), the email is read.
  2. Blue dot: Unread emails have a blue dot next to the subject line. Read emails do not have this dot.
  3. Font style: Unread emails are displayed in a bold font, while read emails are displayed in a regular font.
  4. Flag icon: If you've flagged an email, it will have a flag icon () next to the subject line. Unread flagged emails will have a blue flag icon, while read flagged emails will have a gray flag icon.
  5. Conversation view: In the conversation view, unread emails are displayed with a blue dot next to the subject line, while read emails do not have this dot.

You can also use keyboard shortcuts to mark an email as read or unread:

Additionally, you can use the "Mark as read" and "Mark as unread" buttons at the top of the email list to quickly mark multiple emails as read or unread.
