How to make an outlook email not forwardable

Unfortunately, there is no built-in option in Outlook to make an email non-forwardable. However, there are a few workarounds you can use to achieve a similar effect:

Method 1: Use the "Do not forward" flag

You can add a flag to the email that will prevent it from being forwarded. To do this:

  1. Open the email in Outlook.
  2. Click on the "Message" tab in the ribbon.
  3. Click on the "Actions" button in the "Move" group.
  4. Select "Mark as Unread" and then check the box next to "Do not forward".
  5. Click "OK".

This will add a flag to the email that will prevent it from being forwarded. However, it's worth noting that this method is not foolproof, as a determined user could still forward the email using other methods.

Method 2: Use a disclaimer

You can add a disclaimer to the email that will notify the recipient that the email is not to be forwarded. To do this:

  1. Open the email in Outlook.
  2. Click on the "Message" tab in the ribbon.
  3. Click on the "Options" button in the "Tags" group.
  4. Select "Add a disclaimer".
  5. In the "Disclaimer" dialog box, enter a message that will be added to the email, such as "This email is confidential and should not be forwarded."
  6. Click "OK".

This method will add a disclaimer to the email that will be visible to the recipient, but it will not prevent the email from being forwarded.

Method 3: Use a third-party add-in

There are several third-party add-ins available that can help you prevent emails from being forwarded. One popular option is the "No Forward" add-in, which can be installed from the Microsoft Store.

To install the add-in:

  1. Open the Microsoft Store app on your computer.
  2. Search for "No Forward" and select the add-in from the results.
  3. Click the "Install" button to install the add-in.
  4. Once installed, open Outlook and click on the "No Forward" button in the ribbon to enable the feature.

This method will prevent emails from being forwarded, but it may require some configuration and may not work with all email clients.

It's worth noting that while these methods can help prevent emails from being forwarded, they are not foolproof and can be bypassed by determined users. If you need to ensure that an email is not forwarded, you may want to consider using a more secure method, such as encrypting the email or using a secure communication channel.
