- Enter a name for your filter (this will be the name of your mail tag) and a description (optional).
- Click on the "Create" button.
Applying a mail tag to an email:

- Click on the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the email.

Managing mail tags:

- To remove a mail tag from an email, open the email and click on the three vertical dots at the top right corner. Select "Remove label" and choose the mail tag you want to remove.
- To edit a mail tag, go to the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab in your Gmail settings, find the filter associated with the mail tag, and click on the "Edit" button.
Tips and variations:
- You can create multiple mail tags and apply them to the same email.
- You can also use mail tags to filter emails automatically. For example, you can create a filter that applies a specific mail tag to all emails from a certain sender or containing specific keywords.
- Mail tags are not the same as Gmail's built-in labels. While labels are used to categorize emails, mail tags are more like flags that you can apply to emails to mark them as important or needing attention.
- You can also use third-party browser extensions or add-ons to create custom mail tags and filters in Gmail.
