How to make sure removed mail from bin in gmail
To ensure that removed emails from the bin (trash) in Gmail are permanently deleted, follow these steps:
- Check the "Bin" folder: Log in to your Gmail account and navigate to the "Bin" folder. This is where deleted emails are stored temporarily.
- Select the emails you want to delete: Check the boxes next to the emails you want to permanently delete.
- Click on the "Empty Bin" button: Click on the "Empty Bin" button at the top of the page. This will permanently delete the selected emails from your Gmail account.
- Confirm the deletion: A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm the deletion. Click on "OK" to confirm.
Alternatively, you can also use the keyboard shortcut "Shift + Delete" to permanently delete the selected emails.
Note: If you want to permanently delete all emails in the "Bin" folder at once, you can click on the "Empty Bin" button without selecting any specific emails.
Additional tip: To prevent accidental deletion of emails, you can also set up a filter in Gmail to automatically move deleted emails to the "All Mail" folder, where they will be permanently deleted after a certain period of time. To do this:
- Go to the Gmail settings (gear icon) > See all settings.
- Click on the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab.
- Click on "Create a new filter".
- Enter a filter name and description.
- Set the filter to apply to "Deleted messages".
- Choose the action "Apply the label" and select "All Mail".
- Set the "Also apply filter to [X] matching conversations" option to "Yes".
- Click on "Create" to save the filter.
This way, deleted emails will be moved to the "All Mail" folder, where they will be permanently deleted after a certain period of time (e.g., 30 days).
