How to make sure removed mail from bin in gmail

To ensure that removed emails from the bin (trash) in Gmail are permanently deleted, follow these steps:

  1. Check the "Bin" folder: Log in to your Gmail account and navigate to the "Bin" folder. This is where deleted emails are stored temporarily.
  2. Select the emails you want to delete: Check the boxes next to the emails you want to permanently delete.
  3. Click on the "Empty Bin" button: Click on the "Empty Bin" button at the top of the page. This will permanently delete the selected emails from your Gmail account.
  4. Confirm the deletion: A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm the deletion. Click on "OK" to confirm.

Alternatively, you can also use the keyboard shortcut "Shift + Delete" to permanently delete the selected emails.

Note: If you want to permanently delete all emails in the "Bin" folder at once, you can click on the "Empty Bin" button without selecting any specific emails.

Additional tip: To prevent accidental deletion of emails, you can also set up a filter in Gmail to automatically move deleted emails to the "All Mail" folder, where they will be permanently deleted after a certain period of time. To do this:

  1. Go to the Gmail settings (gear icon) > See all settings.
  2. Click on the "Filters and Blocked Addresses" tab.
  3. Click on "Create a new filter".
  4. Enter a filter name and description.
  5. Set the filter to apply to "Deleted messages".
  6. Choose the action "Apply the label" and select "All Mail".
  7. Set the "Also apply filter to [X] matching conversations" option to "Yes".
  8. Click on "Create" to save the filter.

This way, deleted emails will be moved to the "All Mail" folder, where they will be permanently deleted after a certain period of time (e.g., 30 days).
