How to pick first name on gmail mail merge
When using Gmail's mail merge feature, you can pick a first name from a list of names to personalize your email messages. Here's how:
Step 1: Set up your mail merge
- Go to Gmail and compose a new email.
- Click on the three vertical dots at the bottom of the compose window and select "Insert" > "Mail merge".
- Choose the template you want to use or create a new one.
Step 2: Add a first name field
- In your mail merge template, click on the "Insert" button and select "Field" > "First name".
- This will add a field to your template that will be replaced with the first name of each recipient.
Step 3: Choose a first name from your contact list
- In the "Mail merge" window, click on the "Contacts" tab.
- Select the contact list you want to use for your mail merge.
- Click on the "First name" dropdown menu and select the first name you want to use for the current recipient.
Step 4: Preview and send your email
- Click on the "Preview" button to see how your email will look with the selected first name.
- If everything looks good, click on the "Send" button to send your email to the selected recipient.
Tips:
- Make sure you have a contact list set up in your Gmail account before you start a mail merge.
- You can also use a CSV file or a Google Sheets document as a data source for your mail merge.
- If you want to use a different first name for each recipient, you can use a formula in your mail merge template to concatenate the first name with other fields, such as the recipient's last name.
