How to recall a sent mail in webmail
The frustration of realizing you need to recall a sent email! Here are the steps to recall a sent mail in various webmail services:
Gmail
- Sign in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the "Sent" tab.
- Find the email you want to recall and click on the three vertical dots next to it.
- Select "Vacation responder" (this will open a new window).
- Click on "Edit" next to "Vacation responder settings".
- In the "Vacation responder settings" window, click on "Recall this message".
- Confirm that you want to recall the message.
Outlook.com
- Sign in to your Outlook.com account.
- Click on the "Sent" folder.
- Find the email you want to recall and click on the three dots next to it.
- Select "More actions" and then "Recall this message".
- Confirm that you want to recall the message.
Yahoo Mail
- Sign in to your Yahoo Mail account.
- Click on the "Sent" folder.
- Find the email you want to recall and click on the "More" dropdown menu.
- Select "Recall this message".
- Confirm that you want to recall the message.
AOL Mail
- Sign in to your AOL Mail account.
- Click on the "Sent" folder.
- Find the email you want to recall and click on the "More" dropdown menu.
- Select "Recall this message".
- Confirm that you want to recall the message.
Other webmail services
If you're using a different webmail service, such as ProtonMail, Zoho Mail, or FastMail, the process may vary. You can usually find the recall option in the "Sent" folder or by clicking on the three dots next to the email.
Important notes
- Recall functionality may not work if the recipient has already read the email or if the email has been forwarded or archived.
- Some webmail services may not support recall functionality at all.
- Even if you're able to recall an email, it's still a good idea to send a follow-up email to the recipient to confirm that the recall was successful.
