How to recall messages in gmail mail
In Gmail, you can recall a sent message by using the "Undo Send" feature, which allows you to retract a message within a certain time frame after sending it. Here's how:
Method 1: Using the "Undo Send" feature
- Go to your Gmail account and click on the gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Select "See all settings" from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down to the "General" tab and look for the "Undo Send" section.
- Enable the "Enable Undo Send" option.
- Set the "Undo Send" time frame to the desired duration (e.g., 5, 10, 15, or 30 seconds).
- Click "Save Changes" at the bottom of the page.
Once you've enabled "Undo Send," you'll see a "Undo" link below each sent message for a short period of time (the duration you set). Clicking on this link will retract the message and prevent it from being delivered.
Method 2: Using the "Undo Send" button
- After sending a message, you'll see a "Undo" button below the sent message in your Gmail inbox.
- Click on the "Undo" button within the set time frame (the duration you set in the settings).
- The message will be retracted, and you'll receive a confirmation message.
Note: The "Undo Send" feature only works for messages sent from the Gmail web interface. If you send a message from the Gmail mobile app or another email client, you won't be able to recall it using this method.
Method 3: Using the "Search" function
- Go to your Gmail inbox and click on the search bar at the top of the page.
- Type "is:sent" in the search bar to find all sent messages.
- Click on the message you want to recall.
- Click on the three vertical dots next to the message and select "More" > "Report spam" or "Report phishing" (depending on the reason for recalling the message).
- Confirm that you want to report the message.
Note: This method won't retract the message, but it will help you find and report any unwanted or spam messages.
Remember that the "Undo Send" feature is only available for a short period of time after sending a message, so make sure to act quickly if you need to recall a message.
