How to recall sent mail from gmail account

The frustration of accidentally sending an email and wanting to recall it! While Gmail doesn't have a built-in "recall" feature, there are a few workarounds to help you recover or retract a sent email:

Method 1: Unsend Email (Limited Timeframe)

Gmail has a feature called "Undo Send" that allows you to retract an email within a short period after sending it. To use this feature:

  1. Enable Undo Send in your Gmail settings:
    • Go to Settings (gear icon) > See all settings.
    • Scroll down to the "General" tab.
    • Look for "Undo Send" and toggle the switch to the "On" position.
  2. Send an email as you normally would.
  3. Within 5 seconds of sending the email, click on the "Undo" button that appears at the top of the page.

Method 2: Use a Third-Party Extension

There are several browser extensions available that can help you recall sent emails. Here are a few options:

  1. Boomerang: This extension allows you to recall sent emails, as well as schedule emails to send later and remind you about important messages.
  2. Sanebox: This extension can help you recall sent emails, as well as filter out unwanted emails and prioritize important messages.
  3. Snooze: This extension allows you to recall sent emails, as well as snooze emails to send later or remind you about important messages.

Method 3: Contact the Recipient

If the above methods don't work, you can try contacting the recipient directly and asking them to delete the email. This method is not foolproof, as the recipient may not respond or may not delete the email.

Method 4: Use a Gmail Add-on

Some Gmail add-ons, like Gmail Recall, offer a "recall" feature that allows you to retract sent emails. These add-ons often require you to install a browser extension and configure the add-on in your Gmail settings.

Important Notes

Remember to always double-check your emails before sending them to avoid any potential issues!
