How to report mails as spam
Reporting emails as spam can help prevent unwanted emails from reaching your inbox and also help email providers and spam filters improve their algorithms to better detect and block spam. Here are the steps to report emails as spam:
Gmail:
- Open the email you want to report as spam.
- Click on the three vertical dots at the top right corner of the email.
- Select "Report spam" from the dropdown menu.
- Confirm that you want to report the email as spam.
Outlook:
- Open the email you want to report as spam.
- Click on the "Junk" button in the top toolbar.
- Select "Report as junk email" from the dropdown menu.
- Confirm that you want to report the email as spam.
Yahoo Mail:
- Open the email you want to report as spam.
- Click on the "Report Spam" button at the top of the email.
- Confirm that you want to report the email as spam.
Other email providers:
If you're using a different email provider, such as AOL, Hotmail, or ProtonMail, you can usually find the "Report Spam" or "Mark as Spam" option in the email's settings or by clicking on a button at the top of the email.
Additional tips:
- Make sure to report emails as spam only if they are truly spam. Reporting legitimate emails as spam can cause them to be incorrectly flagged as spam and may affect your email provider's spam filtering algorithms.
- If you're using a web-based email client, you may need to log in to your account and then report the email as spam.
- Some email providers may have a "Report Spam" button that is only available when you're viewing the email in the inbox, rather than in the spam folder.
By reporting emails as spam, you can help keep your inbox clean and prevent unwanted emails from reaching your account.
