How to reverse a mail in outlook

Reversing a sent email in Outlook is not possible, as once an email is sent, it is considered "sent" and cannot be retrieved or reversed. However, there are a few scenarios where you might want to recall or undo a sent email:

  1. Recall a sent email: If you sent an email to someone within your organization, you can try to recall it using Outlook's "Recall This Message" feature. This feature is only available if the recipient has not yet opened the email. To recall a sent email:
    • Open the Sent Items folder in Outlook.
    • Find the email you want to recall and right-click on it.
    • Select "Recall This Message" from the context menu.
    • Follow the prompts to confirm the recall.
  2. Undelete a sent email: If you accidentally deleted a sent email, you can try to recover it from the "Deleted Items" folder. To undelete a sent email:
    • Open the Deleted Items folder in Outlook.
    • Find the email you want to undelete and right-click on it.
    • Select "Move" from the context menu.
    • Choose the "Sent Items" folder as the destination.
  3. Use a third-party add-in: There are several third-party add-ins available that claim to allow you to recall or reverse sent emails. These add-ins typically work by sending a new email to the recipient with a recall request. However, the effectiveness of these add-ins depends on the recipient's email client and settings.

It's important to note that reversing a sent email is not always possible, and it's not a foolproof solution. The best way to avoid the need to recall or reverse a sent email is to double-check the email before sending it and make sure it's accurate and complete.
