How to revoke a mail from gmail

Revoking a sent email from Gmail is not possible in the classical sense, as the email has already been delivered to the recipient's inbox. However, there are a few scenarios where you can "revoke" a sent email from Gmail:

  1. Unsend an email: If you sent an email within the past 30 seconds, you can use Gmail's "Undo Send" feature to retract the email. To do this:
    • Go to the "Sent" folder.
    • Find the email you want to retract.
    • Click on the three vertical dots next to the email.
    • Select "Undo Send" from the dropdown menu.
    • Confirm that you want to retract the email.
  2. Request a recall: If you sent an email to a recipient who uses Gmail, you can request that they delete the email. To do this:
    • Go to the "Sent" folder.
    • Find the email you want to request a recall for.
    • Click on the three vertical dots next to the email.
    • Select "More" > "Request deletion" from the dropdown menu.
    • Enter a reason for the recall (optional).
    • Click "Send request".
    • The recipient will receive a notification with your request.
  3. Use a third-party add-on: There are several third-party add-ons available that claim to allow you to revoke sent emails from Gmail. These add-ons typically use a combination of email headers and server-side processing to attempt to recall the email. Some popular options include:
    • Boomerang: A popular add-on that allows you to recall sent emails, as well as schedule emails to be sent at a later time.
    • Sanebox: An email management tool that includes a feature to recall sent emails.
    • Revoking: A dedicated add-on that allows you to revoke sent emails from Gmail.

Please note that the effectiveness of these methods may vary depending on the recipient's email provider and their email client settings. Additionally, some email providers may not support email recall or may have their own policies regarding email recall.
