How to set up gmail account in apple mail

To set up a Gmail account in Apple Mail on your Mac or iOS device, follow these steps:

For Mac:

1. Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
2. Click on "Mail" in the top menu bar and select "Preferences" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + comma).
3. Click on the "Accounts" tab.
4. Click the "+" button at the bottom left corner of the window.
5. Select "Other Mail Account" from the dropdown menu.
6. Enter your Gmail address and password in the respective fields.
7. Click "Continue".
8. Select "IMAP" as the account type (this allows you to access your Gmail inbox and folders on your Mac).
9. Enter the following settings:
   • Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
   • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
   • User Name: your Gmail address
   • Password: your Gmail password
10. Click "Create" to create the account.

For iOS:

1. Open the "Settings" app on your iOS device.
2. Tap on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".
3. Tap on "Add Account".
4. Select "Other" from the list of account types.
5. Tap on "Add Mail Account".
6. Enter your Gmail address and password in the respective fields.
7. Tap "Next".
8. Select "IMAP" as the account type (this allows you to access your Gmail inbox and folders on your iOS device).

Additional Settings:

• To allow less secure apps to access your Gmail account, go to the "Less secure app access" setting and toggle it to "On". Note that this setting is not recommended for security reasons.
• To set up labels (folders) in Apple Mail, go to the "Mail" menu and select "Preferences", then click on the "Accounts" tab and select your Gmail account. Click on the "Labels" tab and select the labels you want to sync with Apple Mail.
