How to stop gmail syncing mail

There are a few ways to stop Gmail from syncing mail on your device:

Method 1: Disable Gmail Sync on Android

  1. Open the Gmail app on your Android device.
  2. Tap the three horizontal lines (menu icon) in the top left corner.
  3. Tap "Settings" (gear icon).
  4. Scroll down to the "Accounts" section.
  5. Tap "Sync Gmail" and toggle the switch to the "Off" position.

Method 2: Disable Gmail Sync on iOS

  1. Open the Settings app on your iOS device.
  2. Scroll down and tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".
  3. Tap "Add Account" and select "Google".
  4. Enter your Gmail credentials and tap "Next".
  5. Toggle the switch next to "Sync Mail" to the "Off" position.

Method 3: Disable Gmail Sync on Computer (Web Browser)

  1. Log in to your Gmail account on a web browser.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select "See all settings".
  4. Scroll down to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" section.
  5. Click on the "IMAP Access" dropdown menu and select "Disable IMAP".
  6. Click "Save Changes".

Method 4: Disable Gmail Sync using Google Account Settings

  1. Log in to your Google Account settings page.
  2. Click on the "Data & personalization" tab.
  3. Scroll down to the "Download, delete, or make a copy of your data" section.
  4. Click on the "Delete a service or your account" dropdown menu.
  5. Select "Stop syncing this device" and follow the prompts.

Note: Disabling Gmail sync will prevent new emails from being synced to your device, but it will not delete any existing emails on your device. If you want to delete all emails from your device, you'll need to manually delete them or use the "Empty Trash" feature in Gmail.
