How to stop mails to go into important gmail

The eternal struggle of keeping your inbox organized!

To stop emails from going into your "Important" label in Gmail, you can try the following:

  1. Uncheck the "Priority Inbox" feature: Go to your Gmail settings (gear icon) > See all settings > Inbox > Priority Inbox. Uncheck the box next to "Priority Inbox" to disable this feature.
  2. Disable the "Priority Inbox" algorithm: Go to your Gmail settings (gear icon) > See all settings > Inbox > Priority Inbox. Click on the "Configure" link next to "Priority Inbox" and uncheck the box next to "Use priority inbox".
  3. Use the "Mark as not important" feature: When you receive an email that you don't want to be marked as important, click on the three vertical dots next to the email subject and select "Mark as not important". This will remove the email from your "Important" label.
  4. Use filters: Create a filter that moves emails from specific senders or with specific subjects to a different label or folder. This way, you can keep those emails out of your "Important" label.
  5. Use the "Skip the inbox" feature: Go to your Gmail settings (gear icon) > See all settings > Filters and Blocked Addresses > Create a new filter. In the "From" field, enter the email address you want to skip, and in the "Apply the label" field, select "Skip the inbox". This will move emails from that sender directly to your "All Mail" label, bypassing your "Important" label.
  6. Use a third-party email client or plugin: There are several third-party email clients and plugins available that can help you manage your Gmail inbox and prevent emails from being marked as important. Some popular options include Sanebox, Boomerang, and SaneBlackHole.

Remember that Gmail's algorithms are designed to learn from your behavior and adapt to your email habits. If you consistently mark certain emails as not important, Gmail will adjust its priorities accordingly.
