How to turn off mail

The eternal quest to silence the constant stream of emails!

There are a few ways to turn off or minimize email notifications, depending on your email provider and device. Here are some common methods:

Turn off email notifications on your device:

  1. Android:
    • Go to Settings > Sounds and vibration > Email notifications.
    • Toggle off "Email notifications" or set it to "Silent" or "Vibrate only".
  2. iOS:
    • Go to Settings > Sounds and Haptics > Email.
    • Toggle off "Email notifications" or set it to "None".
  3. Windows:
    • Go to Settings > System > Notifications & actions.
    • Toggle off "Email notifications" or set it to "None".

Turn off email notifications on your email provider's website:

  1. Gmail:
    • Log in to your Gmail account.
    • Click on the gear icon > See all settings.
    • Scroll down to the "General" tab.
    • Uncheck "Enable email notifications".
  2. Outlook:
    • Log in to your Outlook account.
    • Click on the gear icon > View all Outlook settings.
    • Scroll down to the "General" tab.
    • Uncheck "Enable email notifications".
  3. Yahoo Mail:
    • Log in to your Yahoo Mail account.
    • Click on the gear icon > Settings.
    • Scroll down to the "Notifications" section.
    • Uncheck "Email notifications".

Turn off email notifications on your email client:

  1. Microsoft Outlook:
    • Open Outlook.
    • Go to File > Options > Advanced.
    • Uncheck "Play a sound when new mail arrives".
  2. Mozilla Thunderbird:
    • Open Thunderbird.
    • Go to Tools > Options > General.
    • Uncheck "Play a sound when new mail arrives".

Remember that turning off email notifications might not completely eliminate email notifications, as some emails might still be marked as "urgent" or "high priority" and may still trigger notifications.
