How to unsend a mail in hotmail

Unfortunately, Hotmail (now Outlook.com) does not have a built-in feature to "unsend" an email. Once you send an email, it is sent to the recipient's inbox and cannot be recalled or deleted from their end.

However, there are a few workarounds you can try to mitigate the situation:

  1. Use the "Recall" feature: If you sent an email within the past 30 minutes, you can try using the "Recall" feature. To do this:
    • Go to the Sent folder in your Hotmail account.
    • Find the email you want to recall.
    • Click on the three dots next to the email and select "Recall this message".
    • If the recipient has not yet opened the email, it will be recalled and returned to your Sent folder. If they have already opened the email, the recall will not work.
  2. Send a follow-up email: If you realize you sent an email with an error or mistake, you can send a follow-up email to correct the issue. This way, you can clarify or correct any misunderstandings.
  3. Use a third-party add-on: There are some third-party add-ons available that claim to allow you to recall or unsend emails. However, these add-ons may not work reliably and may have limitations.
  4. Contact the recipient: If the email was sent to a colleague or friend, you can try contacting them directly to ask them to delete the email or to clarify any misunderstandings.

It's important to note that once an email is sent, it is out of your control and may be seen by the recipient. To avoid sending emails you regret, it's a good idea to proofread your messages carefully before sending them.
