How to unsend a mail in outlook

Unfortunately, Outlook does not have a built-in feature to "unsend" an email. Once you send an email, it is sent and cannot be recalled or deleted from the recipient's inbox.

However, there are a few workarounds you can try to mitigate the situation:

  1. Use the "Recall This Message" feature: Outlook has a feature called "Recall This Message" that allows you to recall a message from the recipient's inbox. To use this feature, follow these steps:
    • Open the Sent Items folder in Outlook.
    • Find the email you want to recall and right-click on it.
    • Select "Recall This Message" from the context menu.
    • In the "Recall This Message" dialog box, select the option to "Delete unread copies of this message" and click "OK".
    • If the recipient has already read the email, this feature may not work.
  2. Use a third-party add-in: There are several third-party add-ins available that claim to allow you to "unsend" an email. These add-ins typically work by sending a new email to the recipient with a recall request. Some popular options include:
    • SaneBlackHole: This add-in allows you to recall an email from the recipient's inbox.
    • Recall Email: This add-in sends a recall request to the recipient and allows you to delete the original email from your Sent Items folder.
  3. Send a follow-up email: If you realize you sent an email with an error or mistake, you can try sending a follow-up email to correct the issue. This may not be the same as "unsending" the original email, but it can help mitigate any damage.
  4. Use a email client with a "unsend" feature: Some email clients, such as ProtonMail or Tutanota, have a built-in "unsend" feature that allows you to retract an email from the recipient's inbox. However, these features are not available in Outlook.

It's worth noting that even if you use one of these workarounds, there is no guarantee that the recipient will receive the recall request or delete the original email.
