How to unsend mail from outlook
The eternal quest to undo a sent email!
In Outlook, you can unsend an email, but only under certain conditions. Here are the steps:
Method 1: Using the "Recall This Message" feature
- Open Outlook and go to the "Sent Items" folder.
- Find the email you want to unsend and right-click on it.
- Select "Recall This Message" from the context menu.
- In the "Recall This Message" dialog box, select the option "Delete unread copies of this message" and click "OK".
- If the recipient has already read the email, you'll receive a notification saying "The recipient has already read the message, and it cannot be recalled."
Method 2: Using the "Undo Send" feature (Outlook 2013 and later)
- Open Outlook and go to the "Sent Items" folder.
- Find the email you want to unsend and right-click on it.
- Select "Undo Send" from the context menu.
- In the "Undo Send" dialog box, select the option "Delete the message" and click "OK".
Method 3: Using the "Outlook Web App" (OWA)
- Log in to your Outlook Web App account.
- Go to the "Sent Items" folder.
- Find the email you want to unsend and click on the three dots next to it.
- Select "Recall this message" from the dropdown menu.
- In the "Recall this message" dialog box, select the option "Delete unread copies of this message" and click "OK".
Important notes:
- The "Recall This Message" feature only works if the recipient has not yet read the email.
- The "Undo Send" feature only works if you have not yet closed the Outlook window or shut down your computer.
- If the recipient has already read the email, you won't be able to unsend it.
- Some email providers, like Gmail, may not allow you to unsend emails.
