How to unsend mail on outlook

The eternal quest to undo a sent email!

Unfortunately, Outlook doesn't have a built-in "unsend" feature like some other email providers. However, there are a few workarounds to help you recover from a sent email mistake:

Method 1: Recall a Sent Email (Outlook 2013 and later)

  1. Open Outlook and go to the "Sent Items" folder.
  2. Find the email you want to recall and right-click on it.
  3. Select "Recall This Message" from the context menu.
  4. In the "Recall This Message" dialog box, select "Delete unread copies of this message" and "Delete read copies of this message" (if you want to delete all copies of the email).
  5. Click "OK" to confirm.

Method 2: Use the "Undo Send" feature (Outlook.com and Outlook on the web)

  1. Log in to your Outlook.com account or access Outlook on the web.
  2. Go to the "Sent" folder.
  3. Find the email you want to undo and click on the three dots next to it.
  4. Select "Undo Send" from the dropdown menu.
  5. Confirm that you want to undo the send by clicking "Yes" in the pop-up dialog box.

Method 3: Use a third-party add-in (Outlook desktop)

There are several third-party add-ins available that can help you recall or undo sent emails in Outlook. Some popular options include:

Method 4: Contact the recipient (Outlook desktop)

If all else fails, you can try contacting the recipient directly and asking them to delete the email. This might not be the most elegant solution, but it can be effective in certain situations.

Remember that these methods may not always work, and there are no guarantees that the email will be successfully recalled or undone. Always double-check your emails before sending them to avoid mistakes!
