How to use gmail in outlook
You can use your Gmail account in Outlook by following these steps:
Method 1: Adding Gmail account to Outlook using IMAP
- Open Outlook and go to File > Add Account.
- Select Manual setup or additional server types and click Next.
- Choose Internet Email and click Next.
- Enter your name, email address, and password for your Gmail account.
- In the Server Information section, select IMAP as the account type.
- Enter the following settings:
- Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
- Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com
- Port: 993 (IMAP) or 587 (SMTP)
- Click Next and then Finish.
Method 2: Adding Gmail account to Outlook using POP
- Open Outlook and go to File > Add Account.
- Select Manual setup or additional server types and click Next.
- Choose Internet Email and click Next.
- Enter your name, email address, and password for your Gmail account.
- In the Server Information section, select POP as the account type.
- Enter the following settings:
- Incoming mail server: pop.gmail.com
- Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com
- Port: 110 (POP) or 587 (SMTP)
- Click Next and then Finish.
Additional settings
- To enable two-factor authentication (2FA) in Gmail, go to your Gmail account settings, click on Security, and enable 2-Step Verification.
- To allow less secure apps to access your Gmail account, go to your Gmail account settings, click on Security, and toggle off Less secure app access.
- To use OAuth 2.0 authentication, you'll need to generate an App Password in your Google Account settings and enter it in Outlook.
Tips and limitations
- When using IMAP, your emails will be synced between Gmail and Outlook.
- When using POP, your emails will be downloaded from Gmail to Outlook, and deleted from the server.
- Some features, such as Gmail's built-in filters and labels, may not be available in Outlook.
- You may need to adjust your Gmail account settings to allow Outlook to access your account.
