How to use guest mode in gmail
Guest mode in Gmail is a feature that allows you to share your inbox with others without giving them access to your account. Here's how to use it:
Enabling Guest Mode:
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the page.
- Select "See all settings" from the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down to the "Accounts and Import" tab.
- Click on the "Grant access to your account" button.
- Enter the email address of the person you want to grant access to.
- Choose the level of access you want to grant:
- "Editor" allows the guest to send and receive emails, as well as edit your drafts.
- "Viewer" allows the guest to view your emails, but not send or edit them.
- Click "Add" to grant access.
Using Guest Mode:
Once you've granted access to a guest, they will receive an email invitation to join your inbox. They can then log in to their own Gmail account and access your inbox.
Here are some things to keep in mind when using guest mode:
- Guests can only access your inbox, not your account settings or other Google services.
- Guests can only access emails that you've shared with them, not your entire email archive.
- Guests can't send emails on your behalf or access your contacts.
- Guests can't access your account if you've enabled two-factor authentication (2FA).
Revoking Guest Access:
If you want to revoke access to a guest, you can do so by:
- Going back to the "Accounts and Import" tab in your Gmail settings.
- Clicking on the "Revoke access" button next to the guest's email address.
- Confirming that you want to revoke access.
Remember to only grant access to trusted individuals and to regularly review the access you've granted to ensure it's still necessary.
