Imap gmail settings outlook 2016
Here are the IMAP settings for Gmail in Outlook 2016:
Incoming Mail Server (IMAP)
- Server name: imap.gmail.com
- Port: 993
- Encryption: SSL/TLS
- Username: Your Gmail address (e.g., [your_email_address]@gmail.com)
- Password: Your Gmail password
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
- Server name: smtp.gmail.com
- Port: 587
- Encryption: TLS
- Username: Your Gmail address (e.g., [your_email_address]@gmail.com)
- Password: Your Gmail password
Additional Settings
- Leave a copy of messages on the server: Yes (if you want to keep a copy of your emails on the Gmail server)
- Remove read messages from server: No (if you want to keep read emails on the server)
- Remove deleted messages from server: No (if you want to keep deleted emails on the server)
Authentication
- Use the same settings as your incoming mail server
More Settings
- Click on the "More Settings" button and then click on the "Outgoing Server" tab.
- Check the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication"
- Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
Save Changes
- Click "OK" to save the changes
Test Connection
- Click on the "Test" button to test the connection
Note: Make sure that your Gmail account is set to allow less secure apps to access your account. You can do this by going to your Google Account settings and enabling the "Less secure app access" option.
Also, if you're using two-factor authentication (2FA) with your Gmail account, you may need to generate an App Password and use that instead of your regular password.
