Incoming mail server outlook gmail
To set up Outlook to use Gmail's incoming mail server, you'll need to follow these steps:
Step 1: Enable IMAP in your Gmail account
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "See all settings."
- Go to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.
- Select the "Enable IMAP" radio button.
- Click "Save Changes."
Step 2: Set up Outlook to use Gmail's incoming mail server
- Open Outlook and go to the "File" menu.
- Click on "Account Settings" (in Outlook 2010 and 2013) or "Add Account" (in Outlook 2016 and later).
- Click on "Manual setup or additional server types" and then click "Next."
- Select "Internet Email" and click "Next."
- Enter the following information:
- Your Name: Your name as you want it to appear in emails.
- Email Address: Your Gmail address.
- Account Type: Select "POP" or "IMAP" (IMAP is recommended for syncing emails across devices).
- Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
- Outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com
- User Name: Your Gmail address.
- Password: Your Gmail password.
- Click "Next" and then "Finish."
Step 3: Configure Outlook to use Gmail's outgoing mail server
- Go back to the "Account Settings" window (or "Add Account" window).
- Click on the "More Settings" button.
- Go to the "Outgoing Server" tab.
- Select the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" checkbox.
- Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" (or enter your Gmail password again).
- Click "OK" to close the "More Settings" window.
- Click "Next" and then "Finish" to complete the setup process.
