Job Summary:
We are seeking a Part-Time Seasonal Employee (PSE) Mail Processing Clerk to join our team. As a PSE Mail Processing Clerk, you will be responsible for processing and sorting mail and packages in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This is a part-time seasonal position, with varying schedules and hours, including weekends and holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort and process mail and packages according to established procedures and standards
- Operate automated mail processing equipment, such as automated package processing machines and automated sorting machines
- Manually sort and process mail and packages that cannot be processed by automated equipment
- Verify and correct addresses and other information on mail and packages
- Weigh and measure packages to ensure accurate postage and handling
- Prepare mail and packages for transportation to destinations
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the processing floor and surrounding areas
- Meet productivity and quality standards, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
- Collaborate with other mail processing clerks and supervisors to achieve team goals and objectives
- Perform other duties as assigned, including special projects and tasks
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to lift and carry mail and packages weighing up to 70 pounds
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and move around the processing floor
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with frequent interruptions
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently with minimal supervision
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn new software and systems
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain any necessary security clearances
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a mail processing or customer service environment
- Knowledge of mail processing procedures and regulations
- Basic math skills and ability to accurately count and weigh mail and packages
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors
