Junk email outlook desktop

The pesky junk email problem! Here are some steps to help you manage junk email in Outlook on your desktop:

Step 1: Enable Junk Email Filtering

  1. Open Outlook and go to the "Home" tab in the ribbon.
  2. Click on the "Junk Email" button in the "Move" group.
  3. Select "Junk Email Options" from the dropdown menu.
  4. In the "Junk Email Options" window, make sure the "Enable junk email filtering" checkbox is selected.

Step 2: Configure Junk Email Settings

  1. In the "Junk Email Options" window, you can adjust the following settings:
    • "Level of junk email protection": Choose from "Low", "Medium", or "High" to set the level of filtering.
    • "Trustworthy senders": Add senders you trust to this list to prevent their emails from being marked as junk.
    • "Blocked senders": Add senders you don't want to receive emails from to this list.
    • "Safe senders": Add senders you trust to this list to prevent their emails from being marked as junk.
  2. Click "OK" to save your changes.

Step 3: Mark Emails as Junk

  1. When you receive an email that you think is junk, you can mark it as such by:
    • Right-clicking on the email and selecting "Junk Email" > "Mark as Junk".
    • Using the "Junk Email" button in the "Home" tab and selecting "Mark as Junk" from the dropdown menu.
  2. Outlook will then move the email to the "Junk Email" folder.

Step 4: Empty the Junk Email Folder

  1. Periodically, empty the "Junk Email" folder to prevent it from filling up with unwanted emails.
  2. To do this, go to the "Junk Email" folder and select all the emails by pressing "Ctrl+A".
  3. Right-click on the selected emails and select "Delete" to remove them from your inbox.
