Logic app email trigger

A Logic App!

A Logic App is a cloud-based workflow automation tool that allows you to create automated workflows, also known as "flows," to integrate different applications, services, and data sources. One of the triggers available in Logic Apps is the "Email" trigger, which allows you to trigger a workflow when an email is received.

Here's an overview of the Email trigger in Logic Apps:

Trigger type: Email

Trigger description: Triggers a workflow when an email is received.

Trigger settings:

  1. Email account: Select the email account you want to monitor for incoming emails. You can choose from your own email account, an Office 365 account, or a third-party email service like Gmail or Outlook.
  2. Folder: Specify the email folder you want to monitor for incoming emails. For example, you can monitor the Inbox, Sent Items, or a specific folder.
  3. Search query: Enter a search query to filter the emails that trigger the workflow. For example, you can search for emails with a specific subject, sender, or recipient.
  4. Trigger condition: Specify the condition that must be met for the email to trigger the workflow. For example, you can trigger the workflow when an email is received from a specific sender or when an email contains a specific keyword.

Example scenarios:

  1. Automate email processing: Trigger a workflow when an email is received from a specific sender, and then process the email by extracting specific information, sending a response, or updating a database.
  2. Monitor email attachments: Trigger a workflow when an email with a specific attachment is received, and then process the attachment by extracting specific information, sending it to a database, or storing it in a cloud storage service.
  3. Automate email notifications: Trigger a workflow when an email is received, and then send a notification to a specific recipient or group of recipients.

Benefits:

  1. Automation: Automate repetitive tasks and workflows, freeing up your time to focus on more important tasks.
  2. Integration: Integrate different applications, services, and data sources to create a seamless workflow.
  3. Flexibility: Trigger workflows based on specific conditions, such as email subject, sender, or recipient.
  4. Scalability: Logic Apps can handle large volumes of emails and workflows, making it a scalable solution for businesses of all sizes.
