Archiving emails in the Mac Mail app is a great way to keep your inbox organized and free up space on your computer. Here's how to do it:
Method 1: Archive using the "Archive" button
- Open the Mac Mail app and select the email you want to archive.
- Click on the "Archive" button in the top-right corner of the window. It looks like a box with an arrow pointing downwards.
- The email will be moved to the "Archive" folder, which is located in the "Mailboxes" list on the left side of the window.
Method 2: Archive using the "Move to" feature
- Open the Mac Mail app and select the email you want to archive.
- Right-click (or control-click) on the email and select "Move to" from the context menu.
- In the "Move to" window, select the "Archive" folder from the list of available folders.
- Click "Move" to move the email to the "Archive" folder.
Method 3: Archive using the "Smart Mailbox" feature
- Open the Mac Mail app and go to "Mailboxes" in the top menu bar.
- Click on "New Smart Mailbox" and give it a name, such as "Archive".
- In the "Smart Mailbox" window, select the criteria for the archive folder, such as "All messages" or "Messages older than 1 year".
- Click "OK" to create the Smart Mailbox.
- To archive an email, simply drag it to the "Archive" Smart Mailbox in the "Mailboxes" list.
Tips and Variations
- You can also use the "Archive" feature to archive multiple emails at once by selecting them and then clicking on the "Archive" button.
- If you want to archive all emails in a specific folder, you can select the folder and then click on the "Archive" button.
