A blast from the past!
In iOS 8, Apple introduced a new way to manage email folders using a feature called "Mailboxes". Here's how to set up and use mail folders to push emails to your iPhone or iPad running iOS 8:
Setting up Mailboxes:
- Open the Mail app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on the "Mailboxes" button in the top left corner of the screen.
- Tap on "Edit" in the top right corner of the screen.
- Tap on "Add Mailbox" and select "Smart Mailbox".
- Choose a name for your new mailbox and select the criteria for the emails you want to include (e.g., "Unread", "Flagged", etc.).
- Tap "Save" to create the new mailbox.
Creating Folders:
- Open the Mail app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on the "Mailboxes" button in the top left corner of the screen.
- Tap on the mailbox you want to create a new folder in.
- Tap on the "Edit" button in the top right corner of the screen.
- Tap on "New Mailbox" and enter a name for your new folder.
- Tap "Save" to create the new folder.
Moving Emails to Folders:
- Open the Mail app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on the mailbox containing the email you want to move.
- Tap on the email to open it.
- Tap on the "Move" button in the top right corner of the screen.
- Select the folder you want to move the email to from the list of available folders.
- Tap "Move" to move the email to the selected folder.
Pushing Emails to Folders:
To push emails to folders, you'll need to set up a rule in your email account. Here's how:
- Open the Mail app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap on the "Mailboxes" button in the top left corner of the screen.
- Tap on the mailbox containing the email you want to push to a folder.
- Tap on the "Edit" button in the top right corner of the screen.
- Tap on "Add Rule" and select "Move Message" from the list of available actions.
- Choose the folder you want to move the email to from the list of available folders.
- Tap "Save" to save the rule.
From now on, any emails that match the criteria you set in the rule will be automatically moved to the selected folder.
