Mail hold us postal service
The Mail Hold service, also known as Hold for Pickup, is a service offered by the United States Postal Service (USPS) that allows you to hold your mail at a post office or mail facility for a specified period of time. Here's how it works:
How to use Mail Hold:
- Contact your local post office or visit their website to request a Mail Hold.
- Provide your name, address, and the dates you'd like to hold your mail (up to 30 days).
- The post office will hold your mail at the designated location for the specified period.
- When you're ready to pick up your mail, visit the post office during business hours and provide your identification.
- The post office will release your held mail to you.
Benefits:
- Security: Mail Hold helps prevent mail theft and unauthorized access to your mail.
- Convenience: You can hold your mail while you're away on vacation, business, or other trips.
- Flexibility: You can choose the dates you'd like to hold your mail, up to 30 days.
- Reduced risk of lost or stolen mail: By holding your mail, you reduce the risk of it being lost or stolen while you're away.
Important notes:
- Mail Hold is not available for PO boxes: If you have a PO box, you cannot use the Mail Hold service.
- Mail Hold is not available for packages: The Mail Hold service only applies to mail, not packages.
- Mail Hold is not available for mail sent to a different address: If you're moving or have mail sent to a different address, you'll need to update your address with the USPS and request a Mail Hold at the new address.
To request a Mail Hold, you can:
- Visit your local post office and ask to speak with a postal employee.
- Contact your local post office by phone or email.
- Use the USPS website's "Hold Mail" tool to request a Mail Hold online.
Remember to plan ahead and request a Mail Hold at least 3-5 business days before you need it.
