Mail opener win7

A classic problem!

The "Mail Opener" issue in Windows 7 is a known problem where the Windows Mail client (also known as Windows Live Mail) fails to open or crashes when trying to open an email message.

Here are some possible solutions to help you resolve the issue:

  1. Update Windows Live Essentials: Make sure you're running the latest version of Windows Live Essentials, which includes Windows Mail. You can check for updates by going to the Windows Live website and following the prompts.
  2. Disable add-ins: Some add-ins might be causing the issue. Try disabling all add-ins and then re-enabling them one by one to identify the problematic add-in.
  3. Reset Windows Mail settings: Resetting Windows Mail settings to their default values might resolve the issue. To do this, go to the Start menu, type "mail" and select "Windows Mail" to open it. Then, click on "File" > "Options" > "Advanced" and click on the "Reset" button.
  4. Check for corrupted files: Corrupted files might be causing the issue. Try running the built-in Windows tool, "System File Checker" (SFC), to scan and repair corrupted system files. To do this, open the Command Prompt as an administrator and type the following command: sfc /scannow
  5. Re-register Windows Mail: Re-registering Windows Mail might resolve the issue. To do this, open the Command Prompt as an administrator and type the following command: regsvr32 %windir%\System32\wlmapi.dll
  6. Uninstall and reinstall Windows Live Essentials: If none of the above solutions work, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling Windows Live Essentials. This will remove all settings and data, so be sure to back up your email accounts and settings before doing so.

If none of these solutions work, you might want to consider using an alternative email client, such as Mozilla Thunderbird or Microsoft Outlook.
