Mail tracking outlook
Outlook provides a feature called "Track" that allows you to track the status of an email you've sent. Here's how to use it:
Method 1: Using the Track feature
- Open the email you want to track in Outlook.
- Click on the "Track" button in the top right corner of the email window.
- Select "Track" from the dropdown menu.
- Outlook will send a tracking request to the recipient's email server.
- The recipient will receive a notification asking them to confirm whether they have opened the email.
- Once the recipient confirms, the tracking status will be updated in your Outlook inbox.
Method 2: Using the Delivery Report
- Open the email you want to track in Outlook.
- Click on the "More" menu at the top of the email window.
- Select "Delivery Report" from the dropdown menu.
- Outlook will send a delivery report to your inbox, which will include information about whether the email was delivered, opened, or bounced.
Tracking Status
Outlook tracks the following status updates:
- Delivered: The email has been successfully delivered to the recipient's email server.
- Opened: The recipient has opened the email.
- Read: The recipient has read the email.
- Clicked: The recipient has clicked on a link in the email.
- Forwarded: The recipient has forwarded the email to someone else.
- Bounced: The email was not delivered due to a technical issue.
Tips and Limitations
- Tracking only works if the recipient's email server supports it.
- Tracking may not work if the recipient's email client is set to block tracking requests.
- Tracking may not work if the email is sent to a large number of recipients.
- Tracking is not available for emails sent to recipients outside of your organization.
