Mailman hat craft pattern

A fun and unique craft project! Here's a simple pattern to make a mailman hat:

Materials:

Gauge: 12 dc stitches x 7 rows = 4 inches (10 cm)

Abbreviations:

Pattern:

Brim: Ch 2, 6 dc into 2nd ch from hook; join with a sl st to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first dc), dc in each st around; join with a sl st. (6 dc)

Round 2 - 5: Ch 2, dc in each st around; join with a sl st. (6 dc)

Body of the Hat: Ch 2, dc in each st around; join with a sl st. (6 dc)

Round 1: Ch 2, dc in each st around; join with a sl st. (6 dc)

Round 2 - 7: Ch 2, dc2tog (see Special Stitches below), dc in each st around; join with a sl st. (3 dc)

Special Stitches:

Assembly:

  1. Fasten off the brim and body of the hat.
  2. Use a tapestry needle to weave in ends.
  3. If desired, use black embroidery floss or yarn to embroider a mailman's logo or a simple design on the brim.
  4. If desired, use white or cream-colored yarn to create a hatband. Ch 2, dc evenly around the top of the hat, join with a sl st. Fasten off and weave in ends.
  5. Stuff the hat with polyester fiberfill or cotton batting to give it a more rounded shape.
