Media mail cost per pound

The cost of Media Mail per pound varies depending on the weight and size of the package, as well as the destination zip code. Here is the current Media Mail rate schedule from the United States Postal Service (USPS):

Media Mail Rates (effective January 2022)

• For the first pound:
  • $3.44 for a package weighing up to 1 pound
• For each additional pound:
  • $0.44 per pound

For example, if you have a package that weighs 2 pounds, the total Media Mail cost would be:

• $3.44 (for the first pound) + $0.44 (for the second pound) = $3.88

If your package weighs 3 pounds, the total Media Mail cost would be:

• $3.44 (for the first pound) + $0.44 (for the second pound) + $0.44 (for the third pound) = $4.32

And so on.

Keep in mind that these rates apply to packages that weigh up to 70 pounds. If your package weighs more than 70 pounds, you'll need to use a different shipping service, such as Parcel Post or Priority Mail.

It's also important to note that Media Mail is a cost-effective option for shipping books, CDs, DVDs, and other media items, but it's not trackable and may take longer to arrive than other shipping services.
