Netscape Mail was a free web-based email service provided by America Online (AOL) and later by Netscape Communications Corporation. It was one of the earliest web-based email services, launched in 1996. The service allowed users to access their email accounts from any internet-connected device with a web browser.

The login screen was simple and straightforward, with a text-based interface and a few links to help users recover their passwords or create a new account. The design was typical of the time, with a focus on functionality over aesthetics.

In 2003, AOL discontinued Netscape Mail, and users were encouraged to switch to AOL's proprietary email service, AOL Mail. However, the legacy of Netscape Mail lives on in the memories of many internet users who grew up with the service.
