Ny tolls by mail out of state

The joys of navigating tolls while traveling out of state!

If you're an out-of-state driver who has received a toll bill by mail from the New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA) or the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), here's what you need to know:

Why did I receive a toll bill?

You may have received a toll bill if you drove on a toll road or bridge in New York State and didn't pay the toll at the time of use. This can happen if you didn't have a toll transponder or didn't pay the toll electronically.

How do I pay the toll bill?

You can pay the toll bill online, by phone, or by mail. Here are the payment options:

  1. Online: Visit the NYSTA's website (www.thruway.ny.gov) or the MTA's website (www.mta.info) and follow the prompts to pay your toll bill.
  2. Phone: Call the NYSTA's Customer Service Center at (800) 333-8472 or the MTA's Customer Service Center at (718) 330-1234 to pay your toll bill over the phone.
  3. Mail: You can also mail a check or money order to the address listed on the toll bill.

What if I don't have the toll bill?

If you've lost or misplaced your toll bill, you can still pay the toll online or by phone. You'll need to provide your license plate number, vehicle make and model, and the date of travel to verify your identity.
