Outlook 2016 gmail imap settings
To set up Outlook 2016 to connect to Gmail using IMAP, follow these steps:
Step 1: Enable IMAP in your Gmail account
- Log in to your Gmail account.
- Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "See all settings."
- Go to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.
- Select the "Enable IMAP" radio button.
- Click "Save Changes."
Step 2: Set up Outlook 2016 to connect to Gmail using IMAP
- Open Outlook 2016 and go to the "File" menu.
- Click on "Add Account" and then select "Manual setup or additional server types."
- Select "Internet Email" and click "Next."
- Enter the following information:
- Your Name: Your name as you want it to appear in the "From" field.
- Email Address: Your Gmail address.
- Account Type: Select "IMAP."
- Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
- User Name: Your Gmail address.
- Password: Your Gmail password.
- Click "Next" and then "Finish."
Step 3: Configure IMAP settings in Outlook 2016
- Go to the "File" menu and select "Account Settings."
- Click on "Change" next to "IMAP."
- In the "IMAP" dialog box, select the "More Settings" button.
- In the "Internet E-mail Settings" dialog box, select the "Advanced" tab.
- In the "Incoming server (IMAP)" field, enter "imap.gmail.com" and select "SSL" as the encryption type.
- In the "Outgoing server (SMTP)" field, enter "smtp.gmail.com" and select "TLS" as the encryption type.
- Click "OK" to close the "Internet E-mail Settings" dialog box.
- Click "OK" to close the "Account Settings" dialog box.
That's it! Your Outlook 2016 should now be connected to your Gmail account using IMAP.
