Outlook 2016 gmail imap settings

To set up Outlook 2016 to connect to Gmail using IMAP, follow these steps:

Step 1: Enable IMAP in your Gmail account

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "See all settings."
  3. Go to the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab.
  4. Select the "Enable IMAP" radio button.
  5. Click "Save Changes."

Step 2: Set up Outlook 2016 to connect to Gmail using IMAP

  1. Open Outlook 2016 and go to the "File" menu.
  2. Click on "Add Account" and then select "Manual setup or additional server types."
  3. Select "Internet Email" and click "Next."
  4. Enter the following information:
    • Your Name: Your name as you want it to appear in the "From" field.
    • Email Address: Your Gmail address.
    • Account Type: Select "IMAP."
    • Incoming mail server: imap.gmail.com
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
    • User Name: Your Gmail address.
    • Password: Your Gmail password.
  5. Click "Next" and then "Finish."

Step 3: Configure IMAP settings in Outlook 2016

  1. Go to the "File" menu and select "Account Settings."
  2. Click on "Change" next to "IMAP."
  3. In the "IMAP" dialog box, select the "More Settings" button.
  4. In the "Internet E-mail Settings" dialog box, select the "Advanced" tab.
  5. In the "Incoming server (IMAP)" field, enter "imap.gmail.com" and select "SSL" as the encryption type.
  6. In the "Outgoing server (SMTP)" field, enter "smtp.gmail.com" and select "TLS" as the encryption type.
  7. Click "OK" to close the "Internet E-mail Settings" dialog box.
  8. Click "OK" to close the "Account Settings" dialog box.

That's it! Your Outlook 2016 should now be connected to your Gmail account using IMAP.
