Tips and considerations
- POP is a one-way protocol, which means that emails will be downloaded from your Gmail account to Outlook 2016, but they will not be synced back to your Gmail account.
- If you want to keep a copy of your emails on the server, you can set the "Leave a copy of messages on the server" option to "Always."
- If you're using a Gmail account with 2-Step Verification, you may need to generate an App Password to use with Outlook 2016.
- POP is not recommended for large email accounts or for accounts that require frequent access to emails from multiple devices. IMAP is a more suitable protocol for these scenarios.
