Outlook autofill email address
Outlook has a feature called "Autofill" that allows you to quickly fill in email addresses and other information when composing a new email. Here's how to enable and use Autofill in Outlook:
Enable Autofill in Outlook
- Open Outlook and go to the "File" menu.
- Click on "Options" and then select "Mail" from the left-hand menu.
- Scroll down to the "Compose messages" section.
- Check the box next to "Autofill common email addresses and names".
- Click "OK" to save the changes.
Use Autofill in Outlook
- Compose a new email by clicking on the "New Email" button in the Home tab.
- Start typing the name or email address of the person you want to send the email to.
- As you type, Outlook will suggest possible matches from your contacts list.
- Select the correct match from the dropdown list.
- If the suggested match is correct, you can press the "Tab" key to automatically fill in the email address.
- You can also use the "Autofill" button (looks like a small arrow) next to the "To" field to access the Autofill suggestions.
Tips and Variations
- You can also use Autofill to fill in other information, such as the subject line or body of the email.
- To use Autofill for a specific contact, you can right-click on their name in your contacts list and select "Add to Autofill".
- If you want to disable Autofill for a specific email address, you can right-click on the address in the "To" field and select "Remove from Autofill".
- Autofill only works for email addresses that are stored in your Outlook contacts list.
