Outlook check mail frequency
The frequency at which Outlook checks for new mail can be adjusted to suit your needs. Here's how:
Method 1: Using the Outlook Options
- Open Outlook and go to the "File" menu.
- Click on "Options" (or press Ctrl + Shift + O).
- In the "Options" window, click on the "Advanced" tab.
- Scroll down to the "Send and Receive" section.
- Click on the "Schedule" button next to "Send and Receive every [X] minutes".
- Choose the frequency you want Outlook to check for new mail, such as "Every 5 minutes", "Every 15 minutes", or "Every 30 minutes".
- Click "OK" to save your changes.
Method 2: Using the Outlook Ribbon
- Open Outlook and go to the "Home" tab in the ribbon.
- Click on the "Send/Receive" button in the "Move" group.
- Click on the "Send/Receive Groups" dropdown menu.
- Select "Define Send/Receive Groups".
- In the "Send/Receive Groups" window, click on the "Edit" button next to the group you want to modify.
- In the "Edit Send/Receive Group" window, click on the "Schedule" button.
- Choose the frequency you want Outlook to check for new mail, such as "Every 5 minutes", "Every 15 minutes", or "Every 30 minutes".
- Click "OK" to save your changes.
Method 3: Using the Outlook Command
- Open Outlook and press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type the following command and press Enter:
outlook /cleanmailfolder
- This will open the "Send/Receive" window, where you can adjust the frequency as described in Method 1 or Method 2.
Note: The frequency at which Outlook checks for new mail may also depend on your email account settings and the server settings of your email provider.
