To set up Outlook Express to use Gmail, you'll need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Create an App Password

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner and select "See all settings."
  3. Click on the "Accounts and Import" tab.
  4. Click on "Other" and then "Generate App Password."
  5. Enter a name for the app password and click "Generate."
  6. Note down the app password, you'll need it later.

Step 2: Set up Outlook Express

  1. Open Outlook Express.

  3. Click on "Add a new account" and select "Manual setup or additional server types."
  4. Select "Internet Email" and click "Next."
  5. Enter the following settings:

    • Username: Your Gmail address.
    • Password: The app password you created in Step 1.

Step 3: Configure the Account

  1. In the "Accounts" window, select the new account you just created.
  2. Click on "Properties" and then "Servers."
  3. Check the box next to "My server requires authentication."
  4. Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" for the "Outgoing mail server" section.
  5. Click "OK" to close the "Properties" window.

Step 4: Test the Account

  1. Click on "Send/Receive" to test the account.
  2. If everything is set up correctly, you should be able to send and receive emails using Outlook Express.
