The frustration of a full mailbox in Outlook!

Here are some steps to help you manage a full mailbox in Outlook:

Check your mailbox size

  1. Open Outlook and go to the "File" menu.
  2. Click on "Info" and then "Account Settings".
  3. Click on "Data Files" and select the mailbox you want to check.
  4. Look for the "Size" column, which will show you the total size of your mailbox.

Delete unnecessary emails

  1. Open your mailbox and use the "Search" function to find emails that are no longer needed.
  2. Select the emails you want to delete and press the "Delete" key.
  3. Confirm that you want to delete the emails.

Empty the "Deleted Items" folder

  1. Go to the "Deleted Items" folder in your mailbox.
  2. Select all the emails in the folder by pressing "Ctrl+A".
  3. Right-click on the selected emails and choose "Empty Folder".

Purge old emails

  1. Go to the "Folder" view in your mailbox.
  2. Right-click on the folder you want to purge (e.g., "Inbox", "Sent Items", etc.).
  3. Choose "Clean Up Folders" and select the option to "Purge items older than [X] days".
  4. Set the number of days to a reasonable value (e.g., 30, 60, etc.).

Increase your mailbox size

Consider archiving your emails

  1. Outlook allows you to archive your emails to free up space in your mailbox.

  3. Select the account you want to archive and click on "Archive".
  4. Choose a location to save your archived emails.
