Outlook mail settings
Here are the common Outlook mail settings:
Incoming Mail Server (IMAP/POP3)
- Server Name: outlook.office365.com (for Office 365 accounts) or imap.gmail.com (for Gmail accounts)
- Port: 993 (IMAP) or 995 (POP3)
- Encryption: SSL/TLS
- Username: Your Outlook/Gmail email address
- Password: Your Outlook/Gmail password
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
- Server Name: smtp.office365.com (for Office 365 accounts) or smtp.gmail.com (for Gmail accounts)
- Port: 587 (TLS) or 25 (unencrypted)
- Encryption: TLS
- Username: Your Outlook/Gmail email address
- Password: Your Outlook/Gmail password
Additional Settings
- Authentication: Use the same username and password for both incoming and outgoing servers
- Leave a copy of messages on the server: This setting allows you to keep a copy of your emails on the server, so you can access them from multiple devices
- Check for new messages every: Set the interval at which Outlook checks for new emails (e.g., every 5 minutes)
IMAP Settings
- IMAP Path Prefix: Leave this blank
- Use SSL to connect to the server: Enable this option to use SSL encryption when connecting to the IMAP server
- Use TLS to connect to the server: Enable this option to use TLS encryption when connecting to the IMAP server
POP3 Settings
- POP3 Path Prefix: Leave this blank
- Use SSL to connect to the server: Enable this option to use SSL encryption when connecting to the POP3 server
- Use TLS to connect to the server: Enable this option to use TLS encryption when connecting to the POP3 server
Notes
- For Office 365 accounts, you may need to use the "Exchange" protocol instead of IMAP or POP3.
- For Gmail accounts, you may need to enable "Less secure app access" in your Google Account settings to allow Outlook to connect.
- If you're using a third-party email client, you may need to adjust the settings accordingly.
Remember to replace the server names and ports with the ones specific to your email provider and account.
