Outlook mail settings imap
To set up Outlook to use IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) to access your email account, follow these steps:
Outlook 2016 and later versions:
- Open Outlook and go to File > Account Settings > Manage Profiles.
- Click on "Show Profiles" and select the profile you want to edit.
- Click on "Email" and then click on "Edit".
- In the "Account" tab, select "Manual setup or additional server types" and click "Next".
- Select "Internet Email" and click "Next".
- Enter your email address, username, and password.
- In the "Server Information" section, select "IMAP" as the server type.
- Enter the IMAP server address and port number (e.g., imap.gmail.com:993).
- Check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".
- Click "Next" and then "Finish".
Outlook 2013 and earlier versions:
- Open Outlook and go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
- Select the email account you want to edit and click "Change".
- In the "Change E-mail Account" window, select "More Settings" and click "Next".
- In the "Internet E-mail Settings" window, select the "Outgoing Server" tab.
- Check the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".
- Select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".
- In the "Incoming Server" tab, select "IMAP" as the server type.
- Enter the IMAP server address and port number (e.g., imap.gmail.com:993).
- Check the box next to "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)".
- Click "OK" and then "Next" and "Finish".
IMAP settings:
- IMAP server address: imap.gmail.com (for Gmail), imap.outlook.com (for Outlook.com), or your email provider's IMAP server address.
- IMAP port number: 993 (for SSL/TLS) or 143 (for plain text).
- Username: your email address or username.
- Password: your email password.
- Authentication: usually set to "Normal password" or "OAuth 2.0".

- Make sure to enable IMAP in your email account settings on your email provider's website.
