To set up Outlook to use Hotmail's POP3 settings, follow these steps:
Step 1: Create an App Password
Before you can set up Outlook to use Hotmail's POP3 settings, you need to create an App Password. This is a 16-character password that you'll use to authenticate with Hotmail.
- Sign in to your Hotmail account.
- Click on your profile picture or initials in the top right corner, then click on "View account" from the dropdown menu.
- Click on "Security" from the menu on the left.
- Click on "App passwords" from the menu on the left.
- Click on "Create a new app password".
- Enter a name for the app password (e.g. "Outlook").
- Click on "Generate" to generate the 16-character password.
Step 2: Set up Outlook
Now that you have your App Password, you can set up Outlook to use Hotmail's POP3 settings.
- Open Outlook and go to "File" > "Account Settings" (or "Accounts" in Outlook 2019).
- Click on "New" to create a new email account.
- Select "Manual setup or additional server types" and click "Next".
- Select "POP3" and click "Next".
- Enter the following settings:
- Your name: Enter your name as you want it to appear in the "From" field of your emails.

- Select the Hotmail account you just set up and click "Set as default".
- Click "OK" to save the changes.
